At Avaya Wellness Center, Dr. Mendake and the team develop a personalized massage therapy treatment plan to address your specific issues so you can start feeling better as soon as your appointment is over.
Before your massage, you meet with Dr. Mendake and your massage therapist to discuss your symptoms, areas of pain, and any stressors in your life. Dr. Mendake and your therapist work together to develop a customized massage for you, focusing on your specific areas of pain or stress.
Once you’re in the treatment room, you undress to your level of comfort — most people remove their outer clothing but remain in their undergarments — and lie on the massage table underneath a blanket or sheet. When you’re ready, your massage therapist enters the room and begins your massage.
Your therapist may apply lotion or oil to your skin to prevent skin irritation during the massage and asks how much pressure you like during your massage. If you’re uncomfortable at any point or want more pressure, let your therapist know, and they can adapt the massage for your comfort.
Once your massage is complete after 30-60 minutes, your massage therapist leaves the room, and you can get dressed. It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water after your session to avoid muscle soreness. Dr. Mendake and your therapist can recommend a series of massages to address your concerns and relieve your symptoms.
